Tolman received accolades for her performance in the role of Minnesota Police Officer Molly Solverson, with Vanity Fair saying her that she "calmly and certainly completely stole the performance". Tolman was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award as Best Supporting Actress for a Movie/Miniseries, and was nominated for Best Actress at both the Emmy Awards & Golden Globes for her role. Tolman was cast in the role of a guest on two episodes as romance writer Abby Berman on The Mindy program the following year. In 2015, she was a supporting part on Michael Dougherty s comedy horror movie Krampus. Tolman did not want to play a number of support parts, including roles that were played by wives, mothers and besties, after her debut in Fargo. Tolman wanted a new character. Tolman was a part of ABC as a character in Downward Dog (based on Animal Media Group's web-series). The show was canceled after just one season. Tolman appeared in ABC's Emergence drama, which debuted on the 24th of September, 2019, however it was cancelled by ABC within a year, in May of 2020. despite Tolman tweeting she thought the ratings were "pretty acceptable". Also, she was a guest star on NBC's Good Girls. In 2021 she was a guest star as Alma Filcott in the second season of the drama show Why Women Kill, and she also played Natalie Green in The Facts of Life portion of the third edition of Live in Front of a Studio Audience.
